RDW Kindness Club are busy spreading kindness!
Students in the RDW Kindness Club are busy spreading kindness! A new group of students recently joined (Sean Bosshard, Emily Dickson, Carter Mistishin, Allie Pauler, and Cianna Tyler) and got right to work with a new project. They wrote inspirational messages on post-it notes and secretly put them on the lockers of fourth grade students while they were away at recess. They left a note for fourth grade encouraging them to do something kind for third grade, who in turn will do something kind for second grade and so on. Carter Mistishin noted: “We want this to reach all students and make the younger students feel like there is someone encouraging them.”

Western Wayne High School Band Students Participate in PMEA District 9 Orchestra Festival
This past Thursday, January 26, through Saturday, January 28, two Western Wayne High School Band students participated in PMEA’s District 9 Orchestra Festival held at Elk Lake High School. Mason Coccodrilli, junior, auditioned on drums but will not move on to Region Orchestra. Katherine Moore, sophomore, auditioned on the oboe and placed second of four other students auditioning from local schools. She will be one of two from this competition moving on to Region Orchestra which will be held at Bangor Area High School. The event will take place from Wednesday, March 8, through Saturday, March 11, at Bangor Area High School with a concert held the evening of Saturday, March 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the M. WW High School’s Early Childhood Education course have unique opportunity!
Students involved in Western Wayne High School’s Early Childhood Education course have the unique opportunity of observing elementary classrooms at the district’s Evergreen elementary school throughout the school year on a monthly basis. Students must take two prerequisite courses before Early Childhood Education which include: Family Living and Child Development. The Early Childhood Education course has been in existence at Western Wayne for the past five years. Students receive a participation grade for each observation after they discuss their classroom experiences with their peers and teacher. Along with doing other projects and lesson plans throughout the year, the students for a culminating end of year project use the knowledge they gain from their work at Evergreen to create, organize, and manage a two-day daycare for three to five-year-olds that is held at Western Wayne High School. WWHS SCHEDULING WINDOW OPEN!!!
The scheduling window for the 2017-18 school year is now open until February 1st. Students can log-in into their school accounts and pick their classes for next year. Scheduling meetings were held today for grades 9, 10, and 11. If there are any questions, please contact the Guidance Department.
PMEA District Chorus Festival – WWHS Students!
Western Wayne High School Music students participated in the PMEA District Chorus Festival held on Thursday, Jan. 12 and Friday, Jan. 13 at Marywood University. Of the six Western Wayne students who competed, four will move on to Region Chrous which will be held from Wednesday, Feb. 22 through Friday, Feb. 24 at Hughesville Area High School. The students moving on include: Dominic Corma, second place, vocal part, tenor 1; Julianna Cruz, 4th place, vocal part, soprano 2; Samantha Pritzlaff, 6th place, vocal part, soprano 2; and Brady McElheny, 6th place, vocal part, bass 1. Ellie Motichka placed 11th in the vocal part, alto 1, and will serve as the first alternate. R.J. Clemens placed 14th in the vocal part for Bass 1. The joy of reading and the spirit of the season – Western Wayne
The joy of reading and the spirit of the season were celebrated as Western Wayne High School students visited Evergreen Elementary classrooms to share a story and activity with children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade.
On Tuesday, December 20th, fifteen Western Wayne High School students from Miss Swingle and Mrs. Brzycki’s American Literature classes spread some holiday cheer at Evergreen Elementary School. The students worked in small groups over the course of two weeks to develop age-appropriate lesson plans complete with engaging activities and props to share with students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade.

WWHS Curriculum Night will be Tuesday, January 17th from 6:00-7:30 in the high school auditorium. It is geared towards next year’s 9th graders (current 8th graders) and parents but all students and parents can attend to hear about course offerings for the 2017-18 school year. School Police Department participates in specialized, hands-on training.August 21, 2026This summer members of the Western Wayne School Police Department participated in specialized, hands-on training at the Pennsylvania School Safety Institute (PennSSI) to strengthen emergency readiness and threat response protocols.
Interactive Crisis Simulations: Officers engaged with PennSSI’s state-of-the-art multi-room simulator and 360-degree augmented reality technology, experiencing realistic emergency scenarios to test real-time decision-making and spatial awareness.
De-escalation & Tactical Response: The sessions emphasized practical de-escalation tactics, threat management, and building muscle memory for high-stress situations occurring on school grounds.
Crisis Communication & Incident Command: Training covered coordinated communication strategies within the Incident Command Structure, aligning police tactics with district administration and emergency management partners.
Behavioral Threat Assessment: Personnel expanded their knowledge on identifying concerning student behaviors, threat assessment frameworks, and applying trauma-informed protocols to keep schools secure without sacrificing a supportive environment.
This immersive training underscores Western Wayne’s ongoing commitment to proactive school safety, ensuring officers are equipped with the latest techniques to protect students, staff, and the surrounding school community. [...]
Senior Competes at FBLA National Leadership ConferenceJuly 6, 2026Western Wayne senior Grady Farley represented the school and the WW FBLA chapter at the FBLA National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas, the week of June 29th.
Grady earned the opportunity to compete at the national level in the Agribusiness event, where he demonstrated his knowledge, preparation, and professionalism among FBLA students from across the country. Competing at nationals is an outstanding accomplishment, and the district is proud of Grady’s hard work and dedication.

High School Student Secures Spot on the Great Wall of HonesdaleJuly 6, 2026Western Wayne High School junior Archer Long has secured a coveted spot on the Great Wall of Honesdale with his painting entitled 250 Years Under One Flag.This year’s competition theme, 2026: American Perspective, inspired artists to explore the nation’s history, identity, and future through original works of art. Archer’s selected painting is an American depiction of our nation’s history, illustrating the symbolism of westward expansion and industrial progress. It reflects the idea that our country’s freedom was forged through sacrifice and hard work, honoring the generations whose perseverance helped shape the United States.Each selected piece is digitally reproduced on an impressive 11-by-17-foot billboard vinyl panel and exhibited for one year at the intersection of 4th and Main Streets in Honesdale, Pennsylvania.More than a decade after its inception, the Great Wall of Honesdale has evolved from showcasing primarily local artists into a juried international exhibition featuring entries from around the world.
