FBLA State Leadership Workshop
The students all gathered for an opening general session to kick off the event and then had their choice of a variety of workshop sessions and presentations. These sessions covered a variety of essential information that FBLA students looking forward to continued academic and professional success could benefit from. WW Invites Community to Dec. 15 Holiday Concert
The Western Wayne School District cordially invites the community to the High School Chorus and Band Concert for an evening of holiday music and good cheer at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15 in the newly dedicated Veterans Memorial Auditorium at the Western Wayne High School, 1970 Easton Turnpike, Lake Ariel, PA 18436. Admission is free! Come out and enjoy our newly renovated facility featuring brand new seats, stage floor, curtains, lights, and sound system.
7th grade STEM Day
On Nov. 20th there was a 7th grade STEM Day carried our by Mrs. Collins and her senior lab techs. Mrs. Collins and her techs invaded the 7th grade physical science classrooms and performed a variety of STEM-related activities with students. Special guest, Sarah Stapleton, from Wilkes University’s Science in Motion program “SIM”, spent the day with our 7th graders as well, showcasing some of the great laboratory equipment SIM loans out to local school districts. The day was a success, and all students gave their best efforts, and behavior.

Western Wayne Student Wins Local NCW Poetry Contest
Reciting original limericks was always a fun activity in Ezra Tetreault’s family. Little did he know that this skill would help him in winning a local section of the most recent National Chemistry Week Poetry Contest.
“My dad has always been really good at limericks,” Ezra, a sophomore at Western Wayne High School, said. “I ran my poem by him before bringing it to school.”
Ezra’s chemistry teacher Maria Masankay challenged her students to enter the American Chemical Society’s 2017 National Chemistry Week Poetry Contest. Much to his surprise, Ezra won the Susquehanna Valley Section of the contest.
“I had no expectations for winning,” he said. “The idea came to me quickly.”
Ezra explained that once he knew the topic for the poem was “rocks” he immediately started to think about writing a limerick because of his experiences with them in his family. He then started to think of a rhyme scheme and realized that just about all types of rocks end in the suffix “ite”.
After doing some quick research, he found that only three types of rocks do not end in that suffix. Therefore, he gave Basalt, Gabbro and Pumice a featured line in his poem. He accented his entry by including a drawing of a volcano and some of the rocks.
His poem has now made it to the national level of the contest. Ezra’s family and Masankay are invited to attend the ACS Awards Banquet in May where Ezra will be presented with a $50 check for being section winner.
This isn’t the first time Ezra has made it to a national level competition. Last year, he competed at FBLA nationals in public speaking as a freshman.
This year Ezra and a team of two other Western Wayne students Noelle Orehek and Trina Barcarola are working on a presentation to enter into the FBLA introduction to business event, which is a state-level competition. Ezra serves as the sophomore representative for FBLA. Also, he is sophomore class president.
When he is not writing poetry and FBLA presentations, Ezra plays football and track for Western Wayne.
Ezra loves all of the academic and extra-curricular experiences he is having at school so far and looks forward to participating in more activities. He also is greatly interested in politics and aspires to join the Coast Guard Academy and possibly work for NASA in the future.
“We are all very proud of Ezra’s efforts in all areas at Western Wayne,” Paul Gregorski, high school principal said. “We look forward to seeing if he advances in the NCW contest.”

School Police Department participates in specialized, hands-on training.August 21, 2026This summer members of the Western Wayne School Police Department participated in specialized, hands-on training at the Pennsylvania School Safety Institute (PennSSI) to strengthen emergency readiness and threat response protocols.
Interactive Crisis Simulations: Officers engaged with PennSSI’s state-of-the-art multi-room simulator and 360-degree augmented reality technology, experiencing realistic emergency scenarios to test real-time decision-making and spatial awareness.
De-escalation & Tactical Response: The sessions emphasized practical de-escalation tactics, threat management, and building muscle memory for high-stress situations occurring on school grounds.
Crisis Communication & Incident Command: Training covered coordinated communication strategies within the Incident Command Structure, aligning police tactics with district administration and emergency management partners.
Behavioral Threat Assessment: Personnel expanded their knowledge on identifying concerning student behaviors, threat assessment frameworks, and applying trauma-informed protocols to keep schools secure without sacrificing a supportive environment.
This immersive training underscores Western Wayne’s ongoing commitment to proactive school safety, ensuring officers are equipped with the latest techniques to protect students, staff, and the surrounding school community. [...]
Senior Competes at FBLA National Leadership ConferenceJuly 6, 2026Western Wayne senior Grady Farley represented the school and the WW FBLA chapter at the FBLA National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas, the week of June 29th.
Grady earned the opportunity to compete at the national level in the Agribusiness event, where he demonstrated his knowledge, preparation, and professionalism among FBLA students from across the country. Competing at nationals is an outstanding accomplishment, and the district is proud of Grady’s hard work and dedication.

High School Student Secures Spot on the Great Wall of HonesdaleJuly 6, 2026Western Wayne High School junior Archer Long has secured a coveted spot on the Great Wall of Honesdale with his painting entitled 250 Years Under One Flag.This year’s competition theme, 2026: American Perspective, inspired artists to explore the nation’s history, identity, and future through original works of art. Archer’s selected painting is an American depiction of our nation’s history, illustrating the symbolism of westward expansion and industrial progress. It reflects the idea that our country’s freedom was forged through sacrifice and hard work, honoring the generations whose perseverance helped shape the United States.Each selected piece is digitally reproduced on an impressive 11-by-17-foot billboard vinyl panel and exhibited for one year at the intersection of 4th and Main Streets in Honesdale, Pennsylvania.More than a decade after its inception, the Great Wall of Honesdale has evolved from showcasing primarily local artists into a juried international exhibition featuring entries from around the world.
