Senior had four pins in four Lackawanna League victories to help Wildcats win Division II title. Also recorded his 100th career pin and 127th career win.

What does it mean to you to have 100 career pins? That was something I thought I’d never really get. I was always thinking about 100 wins, but 100 pins, honestly just kind of snuck up on me. It was this crazy thing that just happened out of nowhere. But I’m very glad it happened.
How have you been able to get so many pins? I think it’s just a by-product of my wrestling style. I do a lot of high-pin moves and it just turned out that way. I’ll always go for the pin because it’s the best thing for the team. And I get off the mat quicker that way. It’s not as tiring.
How satisfying was it to reclaim the division title from Honesdale after they beat you for it last season? It felt really good because so many people said this year that Western Wayne was going to have a rebuilding year. People thought we were going to get destroyed against Honesdale. So it felt great to prove everyone wrong and do so well, even with so many underclassmen.
Thoughts and goals for the rest of the season: For myself, I’m not going to sugarcoat it, I’m looking for a state medal. Top eight, maybe even top three. That would be great. For the team, we have District Duals on Wednesday. If we win that, we go to states. At the first practice of every new season, our coach tells us we want to go to Hershey, we want to go to states. That’s the pinnacle, so that’s the goal.

EverGreen Elementary is happy to begin Career Presentations for the Kindergarten through 5th grade students. On January 23rd Jeannie Hedglin spoke with 2nd grade students regarding her career as a hair dresser. On January 24th Kim Altenhofen spoke with 3rd grade regarding her career as a Realtor. Over the next few months, there will be several more career presentations at each grade level.
Fuller has record breaking night
Cole Fuller reached yet another milestone. At last nights title match with Honesdale, Cole got 100 wins by pin, AND most career wins (127) ever by a Western Wayne wrestler, beating out his brothers Casey and Morgan Fuller. The brothers relish his accomplishments as does the entire Western Wayne family. Congratulations Cole! #wwproud 
Wildcat Wrestlers Lackawanna League Division II Champs
In a total team effort on Wednesday night, the varsity team edged Honesdale, 33-32 (on Criteria H; most total first points scored in individual bouts) to capture its eighth Lackawanna League Division II title in nine years.
One year ago on this date, the Hornets registered a 33-31 win to snap the ‘Cats 52-match win streak within the division. Last night was a slightly different story at Mt. View High School, but it brought on the same intense atmosphere that the Honesdale and Western Wayne wrestling rivalry has each year.
Both teams fought with heart and true grit from the opening bout at 126, to the finale at 120. The Hornets deserved the win just as much as us, and we credit them and their coaching staff.
Backed by key pins from Mitchell Herzog (132), Matthew Leslie (145), and Cole Fuller (285), and hard-fought major decisions from Kasen Taylor (160) and Alex Hollister (195), the ‘Cats built a solid lead heading into the final three bouts.
Our three lightweights did a nice job not giving up pins, but the Hornets were able to knot the score at 32-apiece to send the match to criteria. After approximately 15 minutes of running through eight criteria scenarios, the ‘Cats came out victorious, scoring the most first points in individual matchups, 15-10.
The Wildcats closed out the night with a 73-0 win over host Mt. View. In the win over the Eagles, Fuller recorded his 100th career pin, a feat that very few wrestlers have accomplished in District 2 history. With absolute humility, Fuller also passed current assistant coach Mark Turner for most wins in school history. The new mark is set at 127 wins and counting.
With the title, the Wildcats have earned the top seed in next week’s District 2 Class AA Dual Tournament, which begins Wednesday at Western Wayne High School.

Western Wayne FBLA Members Attend Regional Leadership Conference
Over 80 members of Western Wayne FBLA attended the Regional Leadership Conference on December 19, 2017 at the University of Scranton. Over 400 students and advisers from 10 area school districts that make up Region 22 were in attendance at the conference.
Members running for regional office gave their campaign speeches during the opening session. Ezra Tetreault was elected Vice President of Region 22 FBLA for the 2018-2019 school year.

Interactive Crisis Simulations: Officers engaged with PennSSI’s state-of-the-art multi-room simulator and 360-degree augmented reality technology, experiencing realistic emergency scenarios to test real-time decision-making and spatial awareness.
De-escalation & Tactical Response: The sessions emphasized practical de-escalation tactics, threat management, and building muscle memory for high-stress situations occurring on school grounds.

Senior Competes at FBLA National Leadership ConferenceJuly 6, 2026Western Wayne senior Grady Farley represented the school and the WW FBLA chapter at the FBLA National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas, the week of June 29th.
Grady earned the opportunity to compete at the national level in the Agribusiness event, where he demonstrated his knowledge, preparation, and professionalism among FBLA students from across the country. Competing at nationals is an outstanding accomplishment, and the district is proud of Grady’s hard work and dedication.

High School Student Secures Spot on the Great Wall of HonesdaleJuly 6, 2026Western Wayne High School junior Archer Long has secured a coveted spot on the Great Wall of Honesdale with his painting entitled 250 Years Under One Flag.This year’s competition theme, 2026: American Perspective, inspired artists to explore the nation’s history, identity, and future through original works of art. Archer’s selected painting is an American depiction of our nation’s history, illustrating the symbolism of westward expansion and industrial progress. It reflects the idea that our country’s freedom was forged through sacrifice and hard work, honoring the generations whose perseverance helped shape the United States.Each selected piece is digitally reproduced on an impressive 11-by-17-foot billboard vinyl panel and exhibited for one year at the intersection of 4th and Main Streets in Honesdale, Pennsylvania.More than a decade after its inception, the Great Wall of Honesdale has evolved from showcasing primarily local artists into a juried international exhibition featuring entries from around the world.
