Both the Boys and Girls are the 8th Grade Champions of the Damascus Invitational Tournament! Kalie Romanowski was also named MVP. 
Hollister claims Bronze Medal in Swim Meet
Grace Hollister attended the Les Richards Championship Swim Meet on Saturday Feb 17th, at Scranton High School. She swam the 100 free and the 200 free.
In the morning preliminaries Grace swam her 200 yard freestyle in a personal best time of 2:04.86 placing her in the finals . That evening she came back with a 2:06.71 to place 5th overall.
For Graces 100 yard freestyle she swam a 56.71 in the preliminaries, placing her in finals for a second event. That evening at finals Grace came back with a time of 57.08 to secure the 3rd (bronze).

ACT Test…@Western Wayne HS…During the School Day
Western Wayne High School will be offering an ACT test on Tuesday, April 24th. This test will be given only to WW students and will occur during the school day. The test is four hours and 15 minutes long with two short breaks. All student taking this testing date will have a writing section.
Parent Notification
Earlier today our high school administration and school police conducted an investigation in response to concerns reported regarding student safety, specifically at our high school. The investigation was thorough and no threat was found. State police were also informed and consulted as a precautionary measure. We will continue to be vigilant in our efforts to ensure a safe school environment. As always, the safety of our school community is our highest priority. Wildcat World Student Profile: Marquis Badger
Western Wayne High School Administration has recognized Marquis Badger as an outstanding student. He is a senior who serves as the president of the Hot Rod Club. His shop teacher Pat Farley acknowledges that Marquis is very helpful in his classes and does excellent work in Western Wayne’s Auto Shop.
Marquis started working on cars at the age of seven with his grandfather. By the time he got to high school, Marquis had a real interest in doing mechanical work.
“I love building engines,” he said. “One of the projects I am most proud of during my time at Western Wayne was building a 350 Chevy engine.”
Marquis said he did this in his junior year and he believes that all of the experience he had with auto bodywork at Western Wayne helped him to be able to take on the task of working on the Chevy engine.
Marquis also worked as a lab tech in the auto shop and enjoyed helping younger students learn how to do excellent auto bodywork.
“I get satisfaction in teaching others through knowing that I am helping them to have the same learning opportunities I had,” Marquis explained.
Working towards goals and helping others is a part of Marquis’ younger years as well when he was a part of the Boy Scout Troop 102 out of Lake Ariel for a number of years.
When Marquis isn’t helping students in Western Wayne’s Auto Shop, he likes to offer his services through farm handing at different farms in Wayne County. He has worked at a vegetable farm and a horse farm among other farming experiences.
“I love learning and helping people,” Marquis said. “If I can help somebody and take a load of off them, then that means more to me than any money I could earn.”
Marquis is currently learning more about the auto body trade at his place of employment Kizer’s Auto Body in Lake Ariel. He is learning a lot about bodywork and has the opportunity to work on a variety of company vehicles at his job.
When Marquis isn’t working on cars at Kizer’s or Western Wayne, he is working on his 1989 Dodge D150. This is his favorite car, which he hopes to pass on to his children one day. Marquis plans to work on his car repair skills even more after graduating from Western Wayne this spring.
Recently Marquis was accepted into the Universal Technical Institute located in Exton, PA. A representative from the college came to Marquis’ home to interview him and accepted him on the spot.
Marquis is very excited to study in the field of diesel and auto motive technician in the fall. Marquis credits the Western Wayne Auto Shop with preparing him for college and his future career in auto body.
“Western Wayne Auto Shop really made me who I am today,” Marquis said. “I walked in knowing how to do an oil change and walked out knowing how to fix engines and so many other things.”
High School Principal Paul Gregorski is proud of Marquis’ efforts.
“The Western Wayne School District is glad to offer a variety of electives for students interested in a wide variety of career fields,” Gregorski said. “I am proud of Marquis for being such a strong role model for other students in our auto shop classes.”

School Police Department participates in specialized, hands-on training.August 21, 2026This summer members of the Western Wayne School Police Department participated in specialized, hands-on training at the Pennsylvania School Safety Institute (PennSSI) to strengthen emergency readiness and threat response protocols.
Interactive Crisis Simulations: Officers engaged with PennSSI’s state-of-the-art multi-room simulator and 360-degree augmented reality technology, experiencing realistic emergency scenarios to test real-time decision-making and spatial awareness.
De-escalation & Tactical Response: The sessions emphasized practical de-escalation tactics, threat management, and building muscle memory for high-stress situations occurring on school grounds.
Crisis Communication & Incident Command: Training covered coordinated communication strategies within the Incident Command Structure, aligning police tactics with district administration and emergency management partners.
Behavioral Threat Assessment: Personnel expanded their knowledge on identifying concerning student behaviors, threat assessment frameworks, and applying trauma-informed protocols to keep schools secure without sacrificing a supportive environment.

Senior Competes at FBLA National Leadership ConferenceJuly 6, 2026Western Wayne senior Grady Farley represented the school and the WW FBLA chapter at the FBLA National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas, the week of June 29th.
Grady earned the opportunity to compete at the national level in the Agribusiness event, where he demonstrated his knowledge, preparation, and professionalism among FBLA students from across the country. Competing at nationals is an outstanding accomplishment, and the district is proud of Grady’s hard work and dedication.

High School Student Secures Spot on the Great Wall of HonesdaleJuly 6, 2026Western Wayne High School junior Archer Long has secured a coveted spot on the Great Wall of Honesdale with his painting entitled 250 Years Under One Flag.This year’s competition theme, 2026: American Perspective, inspired artists to explore the nation’s history, identity, and future through original works of art. Archer’s selected painting is an American depiction of our nation’s history, illustrating the symbolism of westward expansion and industrial progress. It reflects the idea that our country’s freedom was forged through sacrifice and hard work, honoring the generations whose perseverance helped shape the United States.Each selected piece is digitally reproduced on an impressive 11-by-17-foot billboard vinyl panel and exhibited for one year at the intersection of 4th and Main Streets in Honesdale, Pennsylvania.More than a decade after its inception, the Great Wall of Honesdale has evolved from showcasing primarily local artists into a juried international exhibition featuring entries from around the world. The installation is enjoyed by the occupants of more than 5 million vehicles that pass the site each year and has become a popular tourist destination.
