The Athletes of the week are Cassidy Asinski and the Football Team’s Offensive Linemen!
Cassidy Asinski has 4 goals & 1 assist in 3 games to help the soccer team start the season 2-1.
Offensive Linemen Chris Heenan, Kyle Guarino, Parker Howell, Jack McAllister, Julian Walck & TE Derek Mason have helped the football team to a 2-0 start. They have provided the push for the Wildcats to post 504 yards rushing on 90 attempts for 5.6 average & 8 TDs! And Mason has 6 receptions for 141 yards & 1 TD!

Strengthening Families Program
The Strengthening Families Program 10-14 returns to Western Wayne School District Wednesday, September 25, 2019. SFP is designed for 10-14 year old students and their parents. It is designed to help youth learn about setting positive future goals, peer pressure resistance skills, positive management of emotions, coping with stress and communication skills. It is a great opportunity for families to work together as their youth transitions to the teen years and adjusts to middle school. There is an opportunity for parents to develop decision making, establish boundaries, and life skills including stress management, peer relationships and goal setting. It is a great opportunity to meet new families and build on your family strengths.
The program runs from 5:30-8:00 PM at Western Wayne Middle School. Each of the seven sessions begins with a family supper. Babysitting is provided for those families with younger siblings. NEW Middle School Student Pickup Procedure!
The destination for the end of the day parent/guardian pick-up has been moved to the back of the school building. From Easton Turnpike, turn onto Hemlock Road. Make the 2nd left into the middle school parking lot. Follow straight through past the athletic complex. Follow the signs to parent/guardian pick-up. Please park in the designated parking spots that are facing the athletic fields. Dismissal will begin at 3:00 pm. Students will be escorted by a teacher to the back of the school building where they will meet their parent/guardian. At this time, parents/guardians will sign his/her child out. When exiting the campus, parents/guardians should use the middle school parking lot exit which leads back to Hemlock Road.

Important Change in Definition of “Compulsory School Age”
Effective September 26, 2019, all children from the age of six (6) through the age of eighteen (18) must comply with compulsory school attendance requirements. To meet these requirements, parents must ensure that their child between the ages of 6 and 18 is attending or participating in one of the following: a public elementary, middle, or high school; a public charter or cyber-charter school; a private licensed academic or private religious school; home tutoring by a certified teacher; or an approved program of home schooling. Children may be excused from compulsory attendance for documented medical or other compelling reasons as outlined in District attendance policy and procedures.
Western Wayne School District Receives “Stop the Bleed” Kits
This summer The AllOne Charities, Northeast PA Area Health Education Center, and The Wright Center for Community Health have provided “Stop the Bleed Kits” to the Western Wayne School District for use in all four district buildings. This past school year all Western Wayne employees received training from medical professionals employed by Wayne Memorial Hospital in how to properly handle medical emergencies involving wounds that a bleeding control kit would warrant.
The groups involved in providing the kits have partnered together as part of a national awareness campaign to provide bleeding control kits and training “to encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives.”
Presenter Valarie Williams, B.A., TTS., bestowed high school principal Paul Gregorski and high school nurse Denise Johnson with one wall-mounted kit for each of the four schools in the district. Each wall-mounted kit includes eight individual kits. Western Wayne is grateful to have been granted these kits to assist in their continued efforts to make the district well-equipped to handle any medical emergency that may arise. “We are very thankful to have received the generous donation of these kits,” Gregorski said. School Police Department participates in specialized, hands-on training.August 21, 2026This summer members of the Western Wayne School Police Department participated in specialized, hands-on training at the Pennsylvania School Safety Institute (PennSSI) to strengthen emergency readiness and threat response protocols.
Interactive Crisis Simulations: Officers engaged with PennSSI’s state-of-the-art multi-room simulator and 360-degree augmented reality technology, experiencing realistic emergency scenarios to test real-time decision-making and spatial awareness.
De-escalation & Tactical Response: The sessions emphasized practical de-escalation tactics, threat management, and building muscle memory for high-stress situations occurring on school grounds.
Crisis Communication & Incident Command: Training covered coordinated communication strategies within the Incident Command Structure, aligning police tactics with district administration and emergency management partners.
Behavioral Threat Assessment: Personnel expanded their knowledge on identifying concerning student behaviors, threat assessment frameworks, and applying trauma-informed protocols to keep schools secure without sacrificing a supportive environment.
This immersive training underscores Western Wayne’s ongoing commitment to proactive school safety, ensuring officers are equipped with the latest techniques to protect students, staff, and the surrounding school community. [...]
Senior Competes at FBLA National Leadership ConferenceJuly 6, 2026Western Wayne senior Grady Farley represented the school and the WW FBLA chapter at the FBLA National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas, the week of June 29th.
Grady earned the opportunity to compete at the national level in the Agribusiness event, where he demonstrated his knowledge, preparation, and professionalism among FBLA students from across the country. Competing at nationals is an outstanding accomplishment, and the district is proud of Grady’s hard work and dedication.

High School Student Secures Spot on the Great Wall of HonesdaleJuly 6, 2026Western Wayne High School junior Archer Long has secured a coveted spot on the Great Wall of Honesdale with his painting entitled 250 Years Under One Flag.This year’s competition theme, 2026: American Perspective, inspired artists to explore the nation’s history, identity, and future through original works of art. Archer’s selected painting is an American depiction of our nation’s history, illustrating the symbolism of westward expansion and industrial progress. It reflects the idea that our country’s freedom was forged through sacrifice and hard work, honoring the generations whose perseverance helped shape the United States.Each selected piece is digitally reproduced on an impressive 11-by-17-foot billboard vinyl panel and exhibited for one year at the intersection of 4th and Main Streets in Honesdale, Pennsylvania.More than a decade after its inception, the Great Wall of Honesdale has evolved from showcasing primarily local artists into a juried international exhibition featuring entries from around the world. The installation is enjoyed by the occupants of more than 5 million vehicles that pass the site each year and has become a popular tourist destination.
