
Freshmen Orientation 2024 – August 22nd – 6-7:30 PM

On Wednesday, May 15th, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. the Guidance Department will be conducting Junior
Information Night in the LGI. The purpose of this evening is to inform parents/guardians about:
selecting a college/training program, college cost, the college admissions process, registration and
deadlines for the SAT/ACT, general financial aid information, Maialearning, SmartFutures, military and
job opportunities and other important information.
This time in your student’s academic career is extremely significant to their life after high school. We
strongly encourage you and your student to attend together.
If you have any questions prior to the Junior Information Night, please contact 1-800-321-9973 and ask
to speak to your student’s school counselor.

The Western Wayne High School Counseling Department took students on two trips to local colleges. PSU-Scranton presented their Nursing Department on March 20th and Lackawanna College had their STEM & Career Exploration Day on March 21st.

On February 7, 2024, the Western Wayne School Counseling Department held their 339 Advisory Council Meeting. Dr. Jill Murray, President of Lackawanna College, presented to the stakeholders on the “New Collar Economy”. The NCE is creating many opportunities for the people, especially students, of Northeastern Pennsylvania. On behalf of WWSD, we would like to thank Dr. Murray, Sara Grande (Assistant Director of Enrollment) and all our stakeholders for supporting our school counseling program!

Curriculum Night will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2024, from 6:00 to 7:30. Administration, Guidance and the Department Heads will go over the curriculum, graduation requirements and the scheduling process.
