National School Counseling Week


National School Counseling Week 2019, “School Counselors: Providing Lessons for Life,” is celebrated from Feb. 4-8, 2019, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by ASCA, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. National School Counseling Week is always celebrated the first full week in February.

SAT Prep Class for 11th Graders – FREE @WWHS

Juniors:

Starting on February 6th, Western Wayne High School, along with Educational Opportunities Centers (EOC), will be offering a FREE SAT Prep class.  The four sessions will run from 3:00 to 5:00 in the LGI.  This prep class will prepare students for the March SAT exam.  Fee Waivers will be available for the SAT exam by signing up.  Seating is limited and must be done in the Guidance Department by January 28th.  Please see Mr. Fitzsimmons with any questions or email him at mfitzsimmons@westernwayne.org.  (See Attachment)

PSAT Results & Videos

 

10th & 11th Grade students who took the PSATs in October, can now view their scores on-line through their Collegeboard account.  Students are being given a hard copy of their scores today at lunches.

FAFSA Completion Night – November 12th @6:00

Seniors & Parents/Guardians:
 
Reminder about FAFSA Completion Night, this Monday, November 12th at 6:00 in the 400 Hallway. Parents should have Social Security Numbers for both student and parent, along with their 2017 tax returns. It is encouraged for the student and one parent to create their FSA ID and to bring it with them to move them along quicker.

The financial aid process can be complicated…this is a great way to get the help and answers you need.

WWHS College Fair

On Wednesday, November 7th, the Western Wayne High School Guidance Department held a College Fair for students in 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades.  Students were able to visit with different colleges/universities and speak with representatives from each school.

Schools in attendance were the following:

Clarks Summit University, East Stroudsburg University, Johnson College, Keystone College, King’s College, Kutztown University, Lackawanna College, Lock Haven University, Marywood University, Misericordia University, Moravian College, Penn State University – Scranton, University of Scranton, Wilkes University, and Wilson College.

The Marines and National Guard were also in attendance.

Also attending were EOC (Education Opportunity Center) and Wayne/Pike Workforce Alliance.
