    Junior Leadership Northern Poconos Graduation…Congratulations to our Junior Leadership Northern Poconos graduates: Ciarra Kidder Phoebe Schmitt Madison Trapanese Graysen Valinski Logan Vinton The Chamber of the Northern Poconos is pleased to present the Junior Leadership Northern Poconos program. Our goal is to develop mutual understanding, respect, civic engagement, leadership and the interpersonal skills of high school juniors by proving real-world experiences. In addition to the skills learned and topics explored, the opportunities and challenges of the region are discussed as participants network with community leaders and other high school students.     Tomorrow’s Leaders Today Graduation –…Congratulations go out to our two Tomorrow’s Leaders Today graduates… Audrey Agnello and Khloe Mistishin.  Tomorrow’s Leaders Today Program: Leadership Lackawanna’s seven-month Tomorrow’s Leaders Today program develops the leadership, interpersonal and managerial skills of high school juniors and provides real-world experiences in the areas of health care, STEAM, history and heritage, crime and corrections, financial literacy, philanthropy, non-profit organizations, and community service. Each year, a class of approximately 60 students, representing various geographic areas and schools, is selected to participate. The program runs from October through May. Sessions are held one full weekday each month from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. A graduation ceremony is held in the Spring. Upon completion of the program, participants will have the necessary skills to become concerned and committed citizens who participate and invest in our community. John P. & Elizabeth Knash Memorial Scholarship Below are the requirements for this scholarship:

–           Graduating student who resides in Wayne County

–          Planning to attend an accredited college and majoring in a horticultural or agricultural field. Other fields of interest include horticulture/floral design or a related field such as agriculture, agribusiness, etc.

Let Grow’s Think for Yourself Scholarship Every year, Let Grow asks U.S. high school seniors to think about the importance of independence, curiosity, and open-mindedness in their everyday lives. This year, we are increasing our award amounts! We will award an $8,000 scholarship to the Grand Prize Winner, and $2,000 each to three Runners-Up.
This is the simplest scholarship anyone can apply for, and our awards can be used for traditional university, community college, or trade school.

Catherine Collins Memorial Nursing Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

Residency:

·         Resident of Wayne or Pike County Pennsylvania

Qualified Institutions and Level of Study

·         Any Nursing Program

·         Two-year college

·         Four-year college

·         School must have an accredited nursing program

·         School must be in the United States

Academic Requirements

·         Good academic standing planning to graduate on time

Pennsylvania Heritage Foundation Essay Scholarships Applicant Requirements:

  • Attending a two- or four-year Pennsylvania college or university in the Fall of 2025
  • Pursuing a course of study in History or an allied field
  • Current Pennsylvania resident

Thorpe Merit Scholarship This scholarship is given to a graduating senior that demonstrates academic excellence as well as community involvement and/or extracurricular activities.

–          Eligible for seniors who plan on attending a two or four year college/university or trade school.

American Legion Post 889 Scholarship See requirements below for this scholarship:

–          Must be a High School Senior

–          Have a family member who is or was a Legion member. Must provide name of member, city of post and relationship to you.

Erin Jessica Moreken Scholarship 1. Candidate must be a High School Senior from a local high school.

2. Candidate must have all requirements necessary to graduate in June, 2025.

3. Candidate and/or immediate family member have or have had drug/alcohol issues (also known as Substance Use Disorder), and the candidate has succeeded despite this dysfunction within the family.  Candidates who themselves are in recovery must have at least one year sobriety, have a sponsor, and be a member of a support program.

4. Candidate must have been accepted into a post high school program, with plans to further his/her education/career before funds are disbursed.  College acceptance letter must accompany application.

5. Scholarship may be awarded anonymously if requested by recipient.

GDS Fair Scholarship See requirements below for this scholarship:

–          Planning to purse a 2-year (Associates) or 4-year (Bachelor) degree level program or a post-secondary trade or technical school.

–          Must have contributed to community service locally or in school.

–          Applicant must meet at least ONE of the following specific criteria below:

–          Be a member of the GDS Fair

–          Be a child or grandchild of a member of the GDS Fair

–          Have contributed significantly to the preparation and/or conduct of the GDS Fair in the past 3 years
