WW National Merit Commended Student

Spencer Smith, Western Wayne senior, has been named a Commended Student in the 2018 National Merit Schloarship Program.  Paul Gregorski, high school principal, has presented Spencer with a Letter of Commendation from the school and National  Merit Scholarship Corporation.  About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.  Although they will not continue in the 2018 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2018 competition by taking the 2016 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.  Western Wayne Administration is proud of Spencer’s achievements.  Along with being a three year National Honor  Society member, Spencer is lead programmer and vice president of the Robotics Club and runs the Computer Club. He wishes to attend Lehigh University with a dual major in electrical and mechanical engineering.
